Degree Programs

The Department of Health Sciences offers two undergraduate degrees.

Undergraduate

The Department of Health Sciences offers two Bachelor's Degree programs, BS in Exercise and Health Strategies and BS in Exercise Science.

BS in Exercise and Health Strategies--this program provides students with a strong foundation in the science of exercise and using exercise to promote overall health to individuals and communities. In addition, students are required to choose an area of concentration in one of the following areas: personal health, community health, business, and information technology. This program provides a broad scope of health. Students in this program will be prepared to take the National Strength and Conditioning Association's (NSCA) Certification for Strength and Conditioning Coaches (CSCS) and various health coach certifications.

Exercise and Health Strategies_ Sample Curriculum.pdf

BS in Exercise Science--this program requires to students to have a strong foundation in the basic sciences (chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and physics). The foundation of the basic sciences is then applied to the human body under stress (i.e. exercise). The students in this program focus on the physiological and biomechanical adaptations to exercise in healthy and unhealthy populations. These students will be prepared to take the NSCA's Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) exam and the ACSM's Certified Exercise Physiologist exam (EP-C). This program will also provide a strong foundation for students wanting to apply for further medical or allied health programs.
